Pipeline install with HDD

Mt. Airy, Louisiana

MORRISON was contracted by a midstream energy company to assist them in enhancing their pipeline infrastructure in order to transport increased product to various locations.  The project consisted of creating connectivity via installation of two (2) 24 inch pipelines that tied into an existing 24 inch pipeline. In addition, an interconnecting pipeline was installed between the two (2) newly installed pipelines near the tie-in points, which allowed for increased operational efficiencies and synergies for the client.

Morrison executed all construction and mechanical scopes at four (4) different segments.  Project challenges such as congested pipelines, railroad crossings, simultaneous facility upgrades, and active vehicular traffic, were mitigated by utilizing solution-based alternatives to achieve the project goals.

In total, approximately 13,000 feet of pipe was installed.  Of that, 10,500 feet was installed utilizing four (4) separate horizontal directional drills (HDD’s).

Morrison successfully maintained safe and productive workflow continuity throughout the project.

  • Successful completion of the HDD scopes of work
  • Successful completion of the smart tool run to ensure the integrity of the pipeline.
  • Final tie-in to the existing pipeline in order to commission the newly installed pipeline system.

“We are extremely proud of our project management and site leaders who led the project construction team to the successful completion of this complex project.  Their planning, execution and controls throughout the project demonstrated their extreme leadership and care.”
